The Weekend

.............was not our best.  Carson is teething really bad, and now has a cough/runny nose/sore throat.
He doesn't sleep very well, and can't seem to get comfortable.  He whimpers or cries pretty much all day, which is such a helpless feeling.  We try and give him as much relief as we can with some tylenol, but that's really all we can do.  And, as much as I know that, I still wish I could do more.  I wish it was me, and not him

We did manage to get a few smiles out of him, as we found out that he really enjoys thin mint girl scout cookies.

And, he really likes them!

And, also really likes fruit gushers.
I think this was the 3rd or 4th outfit he went through on Sunday due to the heavily soaked shirt from all of his drool.  This poor little guy has about 4-6 teeth coming in.....all at the same time!  Yikes.  I wouldn't be a happy camper about that either.

And, this is the current status on our little man.  He is just not himself, which is so hard to see.  It makes me want to cry when I hear his whimper, and he nuzzles into my neck.  I love to cuddle, but it's just not the same when he is not feeling well, and is crawling up me from discomfort.
His eyes are glossed over and watery, his nose is runny, cheeks are rosy, and drool is just flowing out of his mouth.  We will make it through this...but, I am not going to lie----it is no fun.  We are looking forward to giggles, gibberish talk, and our active little monster to be back in our house.  He will come soon, and we are all looking forward to it.

We all need to shake off the not so fun weekend, and start to the week.  And, we are all praying that everyone gets healthy........quickly.
Carl is starting new hours at work, and the first night has already made a big difference.  He used to go into work at 4:30PM, which means Carson and I weren't able to see him after work.  But, now he goes in at 5:30PM, so we get to see him for about a 1/2 hour before he is out the door for his 12 hour shift!  I never would have thought that a 1/2 hour would make such a big difference, but it does!  The timing couldn't have been better.  And, we thank the Good Lord for that one.

So, to end this Monday, which has us all in some what of a funk, we will look for the good.  We are searching for the positive, during these trying times of sickness for a 16 month old.  And, thankful for the fact that it is only his teeth, and not some life altering sickness.  We get to hold him, snuggle with him, and give him our all, when he needs us most.
God will never give me more than I can handle.  That is what I continue to tell myself.

We do look forward to this, though!

Happy Monday.  Tomorrow will be a better day!

  1. I'm praying that Carson will get those teeth through quickly and get past the discomfort. I remember well those wet shirts and how they stick to their little chests-never looked comfortable to me. I'm sure Carl is happy to be sent off to work with hugs and kisses.
